A useful fit for

A larger pot of loose-leaf tea prepared in the jug when simple boiling matters more than temperature menus or automatic warming.

The main tradeoff

The basket is manually inserted after boiling; the kettle powers off rather than maintaining a selected temperature.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can I make at least 1.5 L of loose-leaf tea in the kettle?

Yes. The 1.8 L package includes an infuser and supports a 0.5–1.8 L fill. You heat water first and attach the tea-filled basket after boiling.

Does it keep that tea warm automatically for an hour?

No automatic keep-warm mode is documented here. The exact PL-TI switches off after boiling; the separate TI-KW model uses a different warming routine.

Can I choose a below-boiling target and still use the basket?

This package includes a basket, but its control is a basic boiling switch rather than selectable-temperature heating.

A larger infuser package with uncomplicated controls

The RJ11-18-PL-TI is worth considering when you want to make a larger pot of tea in the kettle itself and prefer a simple switch to a temperature menu. The package combines a 1.8-liter glass jug with a removable lid-mounted infuser. Visible water-level marks help you set up the batch before heating.

Its limits matter just as much as the included accessory. It boils water and automatically turns off; you then add the prepared infuser and manage the steep. This is not a selected-temperature kettle or an automatic keep-warm model. The basket changes where you brew, not the temperature controls on the base.

Size the batch around the actual fill range

The exact PL-TI guide gives a 0.5 L minimum and a 1.8 L maximum. This can suit a larger shared round while still allowing a half-liter batch. It does not suit heating only 250 ml or 300 ml, because those quantities fall below the documented minimum.

Use your own vessels and tea instructions to decide the amount. The nominal maximum cannot be converted into one reliable number of mugs for every household. If your teapot needs more than the MAX line permits, a second cycle is preferable to treating the extra headroom above the mark as usable capacity.

Heating and steeping are separate steps

Remove the basket before the normal heating cycle and leave the lid in place. Prepare the tea separately while water heats. Once boiling finishes and the kettle switches off, carefully attach the tea-filled basket beneath the lid, lower it into the jug and begin the steep.

You choose the leaf quantity and contact time. The kettle does not lower the basket automatically, count down a brew timer or take the leaves back out. If different people want different tea strengths, decide whether brewing together in the jug suits you or whether separate mug infusers would be more flexible.

A boiling maximum is not a temperature menu

Chefman’s product description lists the boiling maximum in Fahrenheit and Celsius. Those figures describe boiling rather than a pair of selectable settings or display units. The exact control is an on/off switch, with blue lights during heating and automatic shutoff when boiling is complete.

If you require a below-boiling setpoint, compare an adjustable kettle that documents the target you need. If you require water held ready, compare the exact warming arrangement too. A similar model name containing an infuser suffix does not mean that every kettle in the range shares those functions.

Serving from the jug

The general serving spout is a different shape from a narrow gooseneck. It suits ordinary cups and a shared pot rather than a deliberate coffee-bed pouring routine. The jug lifts off its swivel base, leaving the electrical lead at the counter.

That lift-off arrangement is useful for serving but does not provide heating away from the base. Use the handle, keep the lid secured while pouring, and leave space to remove the hot lid and basket safely. The presence of automatic shutoff and boil-dry protection does not replace the fill limits or normal handling precautions.

Expect hand care for this particular basket

The PL-TI guide explicitly says the tea infuser is not dishwasher safe. Hand wash it in warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. This differs from the care permission in some smaller Chefman infuser guides, so cleaning instructions should follow the exact package rather than the brand alone.

The fixed spout filter is a separate part: clean it in place instead of pulling it out. Cool and unplug the appliance first, never immerse the kettle or powered base, and follow the guide’s descaling process. Rinse after tea to keep residue from becoming the next brewing session’s cleaning problem.

The right reason to choose it

Shortlist the PL-TI for a larger 0.5–1.8 L boil-then-steep routine with the basket included. Choose the plain PL if you only need a water kettle, a smaller infuser if your batches are modest, or a documented adjustable/warming model if those controls are essential. Keeping those differences explicit makes the recommendation useful rather than assuming one similar-looking kettle can do everything.

Chefman’s PL-TI product reference and its exact guide, pages 2 and 9–12, establish the package, operating range and care rules.
