CO117-DKIllustrated overview
A useful fit for

Tea drinkers sharing a larger kettle who want repeatable preset choices and a longer warming window without an app.

The main tradeoff

Boil Black heats to a boil but then holds at 200°F; the six buttons do not provide arbitrary Celsius targets or a live numerical readout.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can I keep a larger tea batch ready for an hour?

The 1.7-liter kettle holds a chosen non-boiling preset for 60 minutes. The Boil Black program has a different 200°F warming temperature.

Explore this need in the finder →
Will the 175°F White button satisfy an exact 80°C recipe?

The manual gives a rounded 80°C explanation, but the actual button is 175°F. It is not an independently selectable exact 80°C setting.

Can I maintain a rolling boil for an hour?

No. After Boil Black finishes heating, warming drops to 200°F rather than continuously holding the boiling setpoint.

Six preset buttons and an hour for the next cup

The COSORI CO117-DK is a larger glass kettle built around preset temperature choices rather than an app or a digital dial. Its 1.7-liter capacity and conventional spout suit a shared tea routine: heat the water, pour into a teapot or cups, and return for another serving during the 60-minute warming period. Its strongest reason to buy is that combination of batch size and extended readiness. The important limitation is that the behavior of the boiling program differs from the lower-temperature buttons.

Choose from the actual Fahrenheit settings

The controls are labeled 165°F Delicate, 175°F White, 180°F Green, 195°F Oolong, 200°F Coffee and Boil Black, which selects 212°F. These are fixed programs. There is no instruction for entering an arbitrary intermediate target. Choose according to your tea or coffee recipe rather than assuming the beverage names guarantee the best setting for every product in that category.

COSORI prints rounded Celsius explanations alongside those values in the manual. Those explanations are not extra Celsius settings on the kettle. For example, 175°F converts to approximately 79.4°C, rather than exactly 80°C. If a precise Celsius target is a firm part of your routine, compare an adjustable kettle whose actual native controls support it. The CO117-DK's indicator lights show its selected program; they do not provide a changing numerical readout of the water.

The boiling exception changes the shortlist

Warming normally starts automatically after heating and maintains the selected non-boiling temperature for 60 minutes. The manual makes one explicit exception: after Boil Black, the kettle holds at 200°F so the water is not left boiling for an extended period. It therefore serves someone who wants boiled water followed by a hot reserve, but does not satisfy a requirement to hold an exact 212°F setting for an hour.

You can switch warming on or off while the kettle is in standby by holding Start/Cancel for three seconds. With warming off, the kettle stops after reaching the chosen program. During warming, lifting the jug pauses heating; returning it within 60 seconds resumes the cycle, while a longer absence turns it off. That is a useful detail if your habit is to carry the kettle across the kitchen rather than immediately returning it.

Large-batch visibility, without precision-pour geometry

The US manual specifies 1.7 liters, also expressed there as seven US cups, with a 120 V, 60 Hz, 1500 W electrical configuration. The transparent jug lets you see the water level. The lid-release button opens access for filling, while the conventional spout is intended for ordinary serving rather than the slow, narrow stream associated with a gooseneck coffee kettle.

Fill above MIN and below MAX on the actual jug. The reviewed operating instructions do not give a numerical minimum, so a small-cup requirement cannot be inferred from the large maximum capacity. Boil-dry protection helps protect the heater if the kettle has no water; it does not establish a safe amount for normal use. Keep the lid closed during heating and use the handle, because the glass and base become hot.

The filter is not a brewing basket

The parts list identifies a food-grade stainless steel filter. COSORI specifically says not to remove that filter from the lid because doing so will break it. It should not be confused with a removable tea infuser. This kettle heats water; prepare loose leaves in a separate teapot, cup infuser or other brewing vessel.

For maintenance, let the appliance cool, unplug it and wipe the kettle and base with a damp cloth while keeping the electrical socket dry. Do not immerse either part. COSORI recommends descaling at least weekly if the kettle is used frequently and gives lemon or distilled-vinegar procedures. Mineral buildup is a maintenance issue to anticipate with a frequently used glass kettle, rather than a reason to promise the glass will remain spotless without care.

Choose it for readiness, not unlimited control

The CO117-DK fits a household that values visible water, substantial capacity and an hour-long window for repeat drinks at one of its lower presets. Choose a gooseneck if careful pour-over distribution is the priority. Choose a documented adjustable dial and live display if fine temperature control matters more than these six one-touch choices. Most importantly, treat the 200°F post-boil warming behavior as a real feature difference when matching this kettle to your routine.
