The Cuisinart Soho CK-10TR makes sense for someone who wants a compact one-liter kettle, simple boiling and a documented double-wall body. Cuisinart also makes an unusually direct claim for this model: its stainless steel interior keeps boiling water from contacting plastic. That is more specific than a generic BPA-free label. The tradeoff is a stripped-back routine with no selectable brewing temperature, active holding program or external water window.
Buy the one-liter size for your actual batch
One liter is useful when you usually make a few drinks and do not need a large household kettle's maximum capacity. It meets a one-liter batch requirement, but not a request for at least 1.5 liters at once. Use the volume of your mugs or teapot when deciding. A marketing cup count would be less useful than the actual liter specification because drinking vessels vary so much.
Cuisinart lists dimensions of 8.07 inches long, 5.71 inches wide and 8.46 inches high. Those describe the appliance, not all the space needed to operate it. Leave access for lifting the jug, opening its lid and directing steam away from cabinetry. Integrated cord storage underneath the base helps manage unused cable; it does not remove the need for a suitable outlet near the working position.
One switch, one automatic endpoint
The manual describes a Start/Stop switch that you press down to begin heating. The kettle switches off after boiling; raising the switch stops it sooner. You can start another cycle to boil again. This is an approachable arrangement for someone who does not want a temperature menu, and it makes the kettle a natural companion for a separate teapot or cup.
It is not a selectable-temperature kettle. You cannot ask it to stop automatically at a particular green-tea setting, and there is no numerical display showing the water temperature. Stopping it manually or waiting for boiled water to cool may be part of your own routine, but neither creates a documented control setpoint. An exact-temperature requirement in the finder should therefore exclude this model.
Double walls and active warming are separate features
The double-wall construction and maker's cool-touch description address the body design. They are useful features for someone who dislikes a hot single-wall exterior. They are not a promise that steam, the water or every component can be touched safely. Use the handle, keep the lid closed while heating and let the appliance cool before cleaning.
The stainless steel interior may help limit heat loss, but the manual supplies no timed Keep Warm program. After automatic shutoff, the water naturally cools. Do not translate the product page's language about maintaining an ideal temperature into an active, selectable holding function. A shopper requiring water kept at a chosen temperature for 30 minutes needs a kettle with that mode explicitly documented.
Simple interior access, with an attached lid
The release button opens a lid that remains attached and locks down again for operation. Fill below the internal maximum mark. The reviewed instructions do not give a numerical minimum, so this assessment cannot certify a 150- or 200-milliliter fill. Boil-dry protection is a protective feature for accidental insufficient water, not permission to choose an arbitrary small amount.
Cuisinart's water-contact statement is a manufacturer claim for the CK-10TR, not a conclusion from our disassembly or a claim about unrelated Cuisinart kettles. It is reasonable to consider it when materials are a deciding factor, while keeping it scoped to this model's interior. The smooth stainless steel vessel still accumulates mineral deposits, especially with hard water.
The right reason to choose Soho
Unplug and cool the kettle before wiping it, keep electrical connections dry and follow the manual's descaling guidance. The instructions permit a kettle descaler used as directed and provide a vinegar alternative. Ordinary brewing ingredients belong in a separate vessel; this is a water-heating appliance, with no included tea basket.
The directly checked CK-10TR is Truffle; the official CK-10BK Warm Black color option has the same listed one-liter capacity, dimensions and operating design. Choose between these documented color editions after deciding that compact size, double walls and straightforward control fit your daily use. Compare the COSORI 1.5-liter double-wall kettle when a larger batch matters. If selected-temperature holding is your priority, move to a temperature-control model rather than expecting the Soho's insulation to supply that function.
