Households wanting general pouring and adjustable temperatures with optional remote control.

The main tradeoff

Local hold is 30 minutes; configuring up to 60 minutes requires the Alexa app.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Do I need Wi-Fi to choose the water temperature?

No. On-kettle controls select 100–212°F in one-degree increments and provide the default 30-minute hold.

Can I require a one-hour hold?

Yes, with the Alexa-configured arrangement. The local default remains 30 minutes.

A smart kettle that also has a complete local routine

The Hamilton Beach 41036 fits someone who wants a larger general-purpose kettle with adjustable temperatures and optional Alexa control. Its 1.7-liter stainless steel jug and on-kettle controls make it useful even when voice operation is unnecessary. The distinctive tradeoff is the difference between local and connected holding durations: the ordinary routine supplies 30 minutes, while the Alexa app can configure as much as 60 minutes.

You can select temperatures without setting up Wi-Fi

The manual expressly says the kettle can operate without a Wi-Fi connection. Its plus and minus buttons select temperatures from 100 to 212°F in one-degree increments. It remembers the last setting, and the selected value can be changed while heating. This is meaningfully more flexible than a kettle with five or six fixed tea buttons.

The display alternates between current temperature for three seconds and the selected temperature for one second. That gives you progress feedback while keeping the target visible. A button combination changes Fahrenheit to Celsius. The documented Fahrenheit range and increment provide the clearest basis for exact-setting comparisons; the rounded Celsius equivalents in the instructions should not be used to invent a second, differently spaced control range.

Alexa adds control, not more water capacity

For connected use, Hamilton Beach documents the Alexa app, a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection and Alexa voice integration. The product page describes remote on/off commands, temperature choices and notifications. These are actual control functions for this kettle, unlike products whose companion app is only a firmware updater. They can be useful when you are elsewhere in the home and have already prepared the kettle correctly.

There is still a physical routine to manage. The kettle needs water above its MIN mark, a properly closed lid and a suitable location on its base. The manual also describes a remote-operation reset after specified repeated heating cycles without the jug being lifted. You reset that state by lifting and replacing the kettle. Connected convenience does not remove the need to refill and handle the appliance.

Choose the holding arrangement you will actually use

The default Keep Warm period is 30 minutes. The manual says the Alexa app can change that duration from zero up to 60 minutes. A buyer who needs an hour of holding should therefore be comfortable using the app to configure it. The one-hour capability should not be represented as an entirely app-free setting, even though basic heating and the default warming cycle work locally.

During heating, lifting and returning the jug within 30 seconds allows the routine to continue; beyond that interval the kettle turns off. Pay attention to the display and restart as required after serving. The end-of-cycle HOT message is another status indication, not an extension of the active warming timer. The instructions describe the selected-temperature routine without promising that water stays at a continuously rolling boil everywhere.

A practical shared-counter design

The general-purpose spout is suited to a mug, teapot or French press. A gooseneck would be the more natural tool if controlling a thin stream over coffee grounds is the deciding requirement. The external water window makes filling and checking the remaining level straightforward, and the lid opens with a button. The reviewed manual does not establish a numerical minimum, so the finder should not certify an exact small fill solely from the low-water protection.

A removable mesh scale filter sits inside the spout. It catches suspended particles and needs periodic cleaning; it is not a tea basket or a substitute for descaling the kettle floor. Hamilton Beach describes a stainless steel vessel, but that is not proof that the window, seals and every water-contact component are metal. Use it for water, with coffee or tea prepared in a separate brewing vessel.

The reason to choose it

The 41036 earns its place through adjustable control, a live readout and genuine optional remote operation. It is less compelling if you dislike connected setup but need the longer holding duration. Unplug and cool the kettle before cleaning, keep the base dry and follow the supplied scale-removal instructions. Compare the Ninja KT200 for a locally controlled adjustable kettle when voice commands and app configuration add little to your day. Neither choice requires treating connectivity as a measure of pouring quality.
