Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can I heat 1.5 L and pour into mugs?
Yes. Its 1.7 L capacity and general spout fit that batch requirement.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I select an 80°C tea setting?
No. The switch controls a boiling cycle without temperature selection.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the stainless lid filter count as a tea infuser?
No. The package and parts list document a fixed filter rather than an included tea basket.

The COSORI CGK-G173 US family is a straightforward choice for people who want to see the water level, switch the kettle on and pour after boiling. Its 1.7 L capacity and general spout suit cups, a teapot or a larger hot-water job. The important limitation is equally straightforward: the documented configuration has a single On/Off switch, automatic shutoff after boiling and no selected-temperature or active holding arrangement.
The shared manufacturer manual identifies CGK-G173-KUS, CGK-G173-WUS and CGK-G173-GUS with one set of operating instructions. The current product page offers Black, White and Green under shop SKUs KAAPEKCSNUS0018A, KAAPEKCSNUS0022A and KAAPEKCSNUS0023A. Those color choices are covered together here. They should not be confused with COSORI's digital glass kettle or its newer infuser-equipped temperature-control model.
Choose the water-heating job first
A single boiling cycle is useful when the next step is pouring hot water into a separate container. It avoids a drink-menu decision that a household may never need. The blue light is an operation indicator, and the manual says the kettle shuts off after boiling. Neither feature supplies a live temperature reading.
If a tea recipe depends on a selected lower temperature, this configuration cannot make that selection for you. Waiting after boiling is a different routine, with no documented controlled lower setpoint here. Likewise, residual heat in the jug is different from the heater actively holding a target. Select temperature control or required Hold in the questionnaire when those functions change what you would buy.
A useful maximum without an invented minimum
The exact manual rates capacity at seven US cups or 1.7 L. That is enough to meet a minimum 1.5 L batch requirement, although your own cup sizes determine the number of servings. Count any water used to warm a pot or prepare another vessel before filling. The MAX mark remains the limit even if the glass appears to have additional space above it.
The operating instructions also require filling at least to MIN. A numerical value for that minimum is not established in the pages read, so this assessment does not certify an arbitrary one-mug fill. Maximum capacity and minimum-fill suitability are independent. Someone who must heat just 250 mL should choose a model with a verified minimum at or below that amount.
Transparency is the main filling advantage. You can inspect the level from outside rather than opening an opaque jug. It also makes deposits easier to notice, which can help prompt cleaning. A visible scale does not remove the need to place the jug steadily and fill within its marks.
The lid filter stays in place
The parts diagram identifies a food-grade 304 stainless steel filter associated with the hinged lid. This is a filter for the kettle, not an included basket for steeping loose leaves. The package list contains the kettle, base and manual, and the operating routine heats water. Requiring a usable tea infuser therefore leads to a different configuration.
One unusually specific care instruction matters: COSORI says not to remove the filter from the lid because doing so can damage it. Do not treat it as a removable accessory simply because other kettles have detachable scale filters. The lid itself stays attached too. If you want an entirely open top with the lid set aside, this model does not meet that requirement.
Care and the right comparison
Let the kettle cool and unplug it before wiping, keep the electrical connector dry and follow its descaling instructions. The manual recommends more frequent attention when the kettle is used often. Glass and stainless components still collect mineral deposits; their appearance alone is not a durability or taste test. The reviewed manual establishes AC 120 V, 60 Hz and 1500 W for this US household configuration.
For a glass kettle with a different heating routine, compare the COSORI Original Digital Glass Kettle. Choose the CGK-G173 family when visible filling, 1.7 L capacity and simple boiling are the priorities. Choose another configuration when selected temperature, active Hold or an included tea basket is essential. The official glass-kettle product page and its linked model-family manual establish the configuration covered here.
