A useful fit for

People who want a larger tea-and-water station with a quarter-liter water-only minimum.

The main tradeoff

Boiling is followed by 200°F warming; the infuser requires more water than the water-only minimum.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can I heat a 250 mL water batch?

Yes for water-only heating. The normal minimum is 0.25 L; the included infuser has a higher minimum.

Can it hold the exact boiling setpoint for an hour?

No. After the 212°F boil selection, warming uses 200°F. The boiling setpoint and one-hour holding requirement do not share that arrangement.

Can I use the supplied infuser for a half-liter tea batch?

Yes. The manual requires two cups with the infuser; its own 0.25 L/cup fill equivalence gives 0.5 L. Remove leaves when their steep is complete.

A shared tea station with a genuinely useful steeper

The Hamilton Beach Professional 41029 suits someone who wants to heat water and sometimes steep a pot of loose tea in the same vessel. Its 1.8-liter glass body, removable lid and included stainless steel infuser give it a different job from the brand's simpler glass kettles. The strongest reason to choose it is the combination of ten preset temperatures and a one-hour warming cycle. The compromise is that those are fixed settings, and boiling followed by warming does not mean an hour at a rolling boil.

Ten settings with a meaningful lower end

The manual's temperature table lists 120, 130, 140, 150, 160, 170, 180, 190, 200 and 212°F. A button on the handle cycles the selections. That gives this model lower settings than many kettles limited to conventional tea and coffee buttons. Use the numbers to judge your recipe; the drink names beside them are suggestions. A recipe requiring 175°F cannot obtain that setting simply because both neighboring values are offered.

The temperature display can switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius by holding the selection button for three seconds. The Celsius figures printed in the tea guide are rounded counterparts of the Fahrenheit values. For example, 170°F is shown as 77°C. A displayed counterpart should not be treated as proof that every whole Celsius temperature is independently selectable. The display and light ring help identify the selected routine and heating state; this assessment does not make a measured temperature-accuracy claim.

Pay attention to what happens after boiling

The kettle automatically changes to one hour of Keep Warm after reaching the chosen setting. At the 212°F boil selection, the subsequent holding temperature is 200°F, according to the manual. That is a useful second-cup arrangement, but it is a different requirement from holding the original boiling setpoint. For a lower preset, selected-temperature warming is the intended routine.

There is also a practical return-to-base detail: during warming, lifting and replacing the kettle within one minute continues the cycle. This helps when serving a cup nearby. It does not create an unlimited warming session, and you should keep the required water in the vessel. The white, red and amber ring states indicate standby, heating and warming respectively; they are status signals rather than extra temperature programs.

Small water batches and tea batches are different

The water-heating instructions specify a minimum of 0.25 liter, and a 1.8-liter maximum. With the infuser installed, the tea instructions instead require at least two cups. The manual equates one cup with 0.25 liter in its fill instructions, giving a 0.5-liter interpretation for that particular infuser minimum. The smaller water-only fill should therefore never be used to qualify an infuser request in the finder.

The steeper attaches beneath the lid and can be removed for emptying and washing. Measure the leaves for the amount you are brewing, then remove them when the desired steep is complete. A one-hour water-holding function is not a reason to leave delicate leaves steeping for an hour. If you regularly alternate tea varieties and plain water for coffee, allow for the extra rinsing that an integrated brewing vessel brings.

Access, materials and a fair alternative

The lift-off lid and maker-specified four-inch opening are attractive for people who dislike working around a hinged lid. Glass walls make the level visible, while the separate mesh spout filter catches suspended scale. The infuser and scale filter perform different tasks. Hamilton Beach describes a borosilicate glass vessel and stainless steel steeper; those claims should not be expanded into a certification that every seal or water-contact part is metal.

Let the kettle cool before wiping or removing parts, keep the base dry and clean the infuser after use so leaves do not harden inside it. The manual provides a cream-of-tartar descaling method and excludes dishwasher cleaning. Choose this model for its combined tea-and-water workflow. The Cuisinart CPK-17P1 is a useful comparison for larger-batch preset heating when you prefer to steep tea in a separate pot and do not need an included infuser.
